    How to get measurements?

Had a quick question Brandon Cullumย  ... I drew the below, but not sure how to pull accurate measurements off it. I did several from 'point to point' measurements to get it where I wanted. Is there a way to grab them off here? I tried the 'Inspect' tool but it doesn't always snap onto where I need/want it to.

Also thanks to your tutorials I was able to actually draw this!! Appreciate all the great videos!

It's hard to say not being infront of my computer but when you build the design sheets (can't remember actual name) you can bring your model from a selected view point and pull out dimensions similarly to when your are skecthing. Then you can print those out and have a good visual.

Hey!ย  Sorry for the delay, you creating a design sheet is your best option.ย  Then you can bring in a view and put measurements directly on the page!

I going thru the "Make a bed in Fusion 360" we use "new component" ALL THE TIME. But I noticed that this is not default in Fusion 360. So I looked around, an autodesk team member said this was intended NOT to be default based on some workflow I didnt grok. See his comment here: forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-sup...

What is this process that he mentions? How is it different than the process we have learned in "Make a bed"?

Great question.ย  I will create a new component from a master sketch just because it makes a little more sense to me.ย  One thing they mention in the post which I do a good bit is create everything as a body as first and then convert them all to components.

    Trouble Un-Archiving Project

Hope someone can help. I was testing out the project archive function of Fusion. After reading the help system documentation on the process I felt confident I could feel same trying it out. Hasn't worked out that way.

I took a small project folder of little value and went through the archive process. So not I want to un-archive the project. But I can't find the option to do that. Based on what I read it is suppose to be in the pull down menu where ALL PROJECTS is, it's not. All I have in the option is ALL, PINNED, OWNED and SHARED. So the documentation talks about an alternative of the Administration panel, can't find that either.

Please help and be specific where I find the option to un-archive.

    Thanks,
    Richard

    Sweep Issue. Help Please

Just a man that Revels in endless offcuts!
Evening, hoping all the knowledgable people here can help me.

I'm trying to sweep cut a bead all the way around a face frame with mitres on the internal corners.

Firstly i created a plane at the point i want the cut profile to start, then created a path around the face frame 2mm from the edge for the profile to follow.ย

The issue is that i can only get the profile to travel up the left faceframe where it stops however in the sweep preview it does the whole face frame. As you can see from the pictures it also leaves an anomoly is all i can describe it as where the profile meets itself.ย

I did think to myself maybe i should have cut the bead into the face frame first then cut the mitres for each etc. Surely must be an easier way?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.ย

    Damian

Have you tried pulling that rounded profile with just an extrude?ย  You would be able to sweep it around all at once but you could mirror to the other sides.ย  Then do the miter cut once it's on all sides?

I'll give it a whirl! found a way to get it to sweep cut the whole path with no odd bits by simply putting the plane further up the path not at any intersections. However it doesn't stay where i want it when i adjust the parameters as its rooted to one point on a plane.

    Trouble with Constraints

I have been using Fusion now for about 2 months and have designed a half-dozen items. However, I still cannot get the hang of constraints so that all of the sketch lines turn black, mine are always blue. This is frustrating. Somewhere I'm missing something. One of the other issues is when I try adding constraints I generally get a message telling that I will over constrain the model. Again frustrating.

Would it be possible to get a good lesson that will give a full how-to on using constraints.

Richard , will you get any lines that are black when you're doing constraints?ย  Or is it you just can't get them all to turn?
